Happy Valentine’s Day!
I am just going to share with you the gift i made for my dear hubby.
I began with a piece of cold press water colour paper, a ruler and a pencil.
I lightly drew the outline of a heart, free hand. With my ruler, i drew light lines across the heart Then crossed them to form rows of triangles. (my husband is a geometry fan) I used the Koi Watercolour set and made a few different washes, varying the amount of water and pigment in each one
Next, i began randomly painting in the triangles using a very small watercolour brush. It was quite calming.
. As always, my tips for painting with watercolour: Use clean water! (it will make a difference) and be patient. This is my hardest one, as i can never seem to wait for my paint to dry fully before adding more colour and/or layers…
I tried to vary the shades of the pink, and still keep it random. In my head, the pink represented me, and then i added blue to represent my husband… finally adding shades of purple to symbolize our family. (I ended up using my heat gun a lot, throughout – because i’m not patient) Using a larger round brush, i wet the edges of the paper, then randomly dropped the washes onto the water.
This wet on wet technique is really quite lovely, if it’s what you’re trying to achieve (which it was)
When it was completely dry, i added my sentiment on the front, using a PITT penHave a wonderful Valentine’s Day and a great weekend!!
